SUSS!

ACCOMPANYING EVENT / PERFORMANCE / 1H
Discussion after the show with the creators about domestic abuse and women’s rights.

The performance “SUSS!” is based on 200 hours of video interviews with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. It has an educational impact, aiming to bring the subject of domestic violence and women’s rights to public discourse. The show, presented across Iceland and abroad, contributes to the discussion involving the above-mentioned problems with experts, psychologists and artists. In Poland, the discussion will be held in the Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre with Gudmundur Thorvaldsson – RaTaTam actor and leader of the Icelandic part of the “Shaking the Walls” project, Philip Parr – Artistic Director of Parrabbola and the “STW” leader from Great Britain, and Polish experts.

The Icelandic Theatre Group RaTaTam has in only a few years become one of Iceland’s best-known independent theatre groups. The group is made up of strong individuals and empowering artists who take pride in investigating human nature and make performance art dealing with important social issues. They base their work on investigations, interviews and research. The artists focus on the society they live in, cut it open and bring its wounds to the stage. They make performances that challenge expectations and ask difficult questions, but, at the same time, they balance their work with sarcasm and humour.

For the Polish audience the performance will be played in English with Polish surtitles. The discussion will be in English with simultaneous Polish interpreting.
